Blue Shield of CA - B2C - Vision Project
Find-a-Doctor
User Problem
Finding a doctor shouldn't require knowing exactly what to look for, but that's what the tool demanded. Users had to choose between searching by ailment or doctor, identify the right specialty, and navigate a long chain of filters before getting to any results.
The project
Michael set the vision; I helped make it viable for stakeholders. The improvements to Blue Shield's user experience and visual design today are a direct result of that work.
My Role
The project was a close partnership between myself as visual designer and Michael Albers on UX. My role centered on translating his UX work into the design system, using existing components where possible and contributing new ones where gaps existed.
Before
The initial search requires the user to know exactly what type of doctor they’re searching for.
A lot of inputs & filters that may or may not be applicable. To a user, it’s unclear if this data is required.
